  3. Dear fellow SYSOP,
  4.  
  5. The RBBS-EXT.ZIP file contains external protocol drivers for file
  6. exchange.   The files are separated by directory, and can be extracted
  7. from the zip to different sub-directories with the command:
  8. PKZIP -d RBBS-TXT.
  9.  
  10. The EXTernal protocol drivers distributed with RBBS consist of:
  11.  
  12. PCKERMIT.EXE - for KERMIT protocol
  13. QMXFER.COM   - for Ymodem, YmodemG, Imodem, and Xmodem
  14. WXMODEM.COM  - for windowed xmodem
  15.  
  16. Note:  highly recommended, but not distributed with RBBS-PC, is
  17. the external protocol driver DSZ from Omen Technologies.
  18.  
  19. These three files have been unchanged since RBBS-PC 16.1A.
  20.  
  21. The file RBBS-EXT.ZIP should normally not be distributed by itself
  22. but as a part of RBBS-PC 17.3, which is distributed via three
  23. mandatory and four optional standard "ZIP" files.   Two files
  24. are available but not automatically distributed.

  42. RBBS-LIT.ZIP  Merges to reduce size of RBBS-PC.EXE.
  43. RBBSSEXE.ZIP  RBBS-PC.EXE.  Smaller, faster, minimal debugging.

  45. Simply uncompress the first three files and follow the instruction in the
  46. RBBS-PC documentation entitled, "INSTALLING RBBS-PC".

  48. For those who have never operated an electronic bulletin board before,
  49. we suggest getting Bantam Books' "The Complete Electronic Bulletin Board
  50. Starter Kit" by Charles Bowen and David Peyton (ISBN 0-553-34552-4).
  51. RBBS-PC's documentation is only a "reference" and is not nearly as good
  52. a learning guide for new SYSOP's.  However, the book only covers RBBS-PC
  53. version 15.1C, and therefore does not cover new features.  Version 17.3
  54. is downward compatible with the system files of 15.1C.
